Dr Irene Amoke is a landscape ecologist with over twenty years of practical experience in conservation. Her work focuses on developing and implementing strategies for sustainable coexistence between humans and wildlife, particularly in ecologically fragile ecosystems. With expertise spanning conservation science and policy, strategic leadership, and programme management, she has worked across academia, government, and the private sector in Kenya, South Africa, and the United Kingdom.

As Founder and Director of ConserveAbility Pathways Ltd, a Kenyan-based consultancy, Irene partners with conservation organisations and foundations to translate strategic vision into effective, measurable implementation. She is also Nature and Biodiversity Lead at Acclimate and an Advisor at Nature’s Pitch, where ConserveAbility Pathways is a formal strategic partner.
Irene formerly served as Executive Director of the Kenya Wildlife Trust, where she led strategy formulation, programme design and management, strengthened partnerships and stakeholder engagement, and oversaw fundraising to enhance the organisation’s conservation impact and sustainability.

She holds a PhD in Spatial Ecology, an MSc in Environmental Assessment & Management, and a BSc in Zoology. Irene is a Senior Associate of the Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL), an Eisenhower Fellow (2022, Africa Climate Change Programme), and a Women in Environment Fellow (2023). She serves on several conservation boards and is a mentor and facilitator supporting the development of conservation leadership across Africa.

Gloria Achieng is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA-K) and finance and audit professional with over 15 years of experience in financial management, accounting, auditing, governance and organisational administration. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Nairobi and has undertaken the African Leadership University Middle Manager Programme.

She currently serves as Finance and Administration Manager at Kenya Wildlife Trust, where she provides financial and administrative oversight and supports the organisation’s programmes and operations. Her experience spans non-governmental organisations, donor-funded programmes and the private sector, with expertise in financial oversight, budgeting, reporting, compliance, audit coordination and organisational systems.

Gloria is passionate about good governance, accountability and the responsible stewardship of organisational resources. She is also a strong advocate for wildlife conservation and recognises the role that conservation and tourism play in Kenya’s social and economic development. As a Board Member of CHD Kenya, she is particularly passionate about initiatives that expand opportunities for young people and women, strengthen access to education and skills development, and contribute to the social and economic empowerment of communities.

Gloria is committed to bringing her experience in finance, governance and organisational management to support CHD Kenya’s mission and its continued impact in the communities it serves. Outside her professional commitments, she enjoys travelling, reading, cooking and spending time with family and loved ones.

Ruth Jepkemoi is a conservation and leadership professional working across environmental sustainability, community engagement, and leadership development, with a focus on people-centred and locally led approaches to conservation.

Ruth currently supports the design and delivery of leadership development programmes at Maliasili, working with local conservation organisations across Africa. Her experience also includes executive education at Cambridge Judge Business School Executive Education, where she supported leadership programmes for professionals across different sectors.

As a former Programmes Manager and current Board Member of CHD Conservation Kenya, Ruth brings experience in community engagement, conservation leadership, and programme development. She is particularly passionate about strengthening community-driven conservation and advancing inclusive approaches that support both people and landscapes. She also co-founded Kang4Nature, a youth-led initiative focused on increasing youth involvement in conservation.

She holds an MPhil in Conservation Leadership from the University of Cambridge and a BSc in Environmental Science from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology.
