To kick start the month of July, CHD Conservation Kenya invited students from Lemongo Primary School for an environmental learning session at our research centre in Ol’donyo Musa. The day kicked off with a theoretical session led by our Sustainable Green Project Site Manager Arnold Oricho whose key focus was on environmental conservation and the Importance of tree planting in restoring the Amboseli Ecosystem which is our goal.
The follow-up activity was all about getting their hands dirty as they were taken through the process of soil preparation and potting for transplanting. They proved to be quick to learn and industrious as they potted over 500 soil pots. They went ahead to plant an additional 50 trees in their miyawaki forest that we launched with them during the month of June during the world environment day celebrations.
To wrap up the well-spent day, we shared lunch and screened the award-winning film The Lion King.
